Antwerp movers: English-speaking moving company, furniture lift included

Antwerpen Verhuizen is a local moving company based in Wilrijk, Antwerp. If you are looking for Antwerp movers who speak English, you have found them: we move households and offices in every district of the city and in Schoten, Brasschaat, Mortsel and Edegem, seven days a week. You deal with us in English on our dedicated line, and you know the price before moving day: van, two movers and a furniture lift are always included. Over 350 customers have rated us on Google, with an average of 5.0.

What we do

  • Local moves within Antwerp and the surrounding municipalities, from a studio to a family house.
  • Small moves: a few pieces of furniture, a student room, a single-room apartment.
  • Office and business moves with minimal downtime, planned outside office hours if needed.
  • Moves to and from the Netherlands, France, Germany and further afield, with a tailored quote.
  • Urgent moves within 24 to 48 hours and calm, unhurried moves for seniors relocating to assisted living.
  • Packing service and boxes, temporary furniture storage, and house clearance of the old home.

Packages, not hourly surprises

Within 15 km of Antwerp we work with three packages, VAT included: 400 euro for 2 hours, 470 euro for 3 hours (the most popular choice) and 600 euro for 4 hours. Each package includes the furniture lift, the moving van and two experienced movers; every extra half hour costs 70 euro. The clock starts when we arrive at your address, and there is no surcharge for upper floors, heavy furniture or Saturday work; Sunday moves carry a 20% surcharge. For longer distances and office moves you receive a quote on request.

Two things are not part of our service, so you can plan for them: we do not disassemble or reassemble furniture (please have wardrobes and beds taken apart before we arrive), and we do not apply for the temporary parking ban on your behalf. We do tell you exactly how many metres to reserve and when.

Student moves in Antwerp

Every September thousands of student rooms in Antwerp change hands, and again at the end of June when most rental contracts end. Whether you are an Erasmus or international student at the University of Antwerp, AP or Karel de Grote, or a parent driving in from abroad with a full car, we do small, fixed-price student moves across the city.

Most student rooms (a “kot” in Flemish) come furnished, so a student move is usually boxes, clothes, a bike and perhaps a desk chair or a small fridge. That fits the 2-hour package of 400 euro, VAT included, with the van, two movers and the furniture lift. The lift matters more than you would think: many rooms sit on the third or fourth floor of an old townhouse with a narrow staircase, and carrying a mattress down it is how deposits get lost. We take everything out through the window instead.

  • Room-to-room moves within Antwerp, usually done in a morning.
  • Moves between Antwerp and Ghent, Leuven, Brussels or the Netherlands at a fixed price based on distance.
  • Summer storage: your old contract ends on 30 June and the new room is only free on 1 September? We collect, store (insured) and deliver.
  • Quotes and invoices can be issued in a parent’s name.

Book two to three weeks ahead for mid-September or late June; the rest of the year we can usually come within a few days, weekends included (Sundays carry a 20% surcharge). The Dutch version of this service is on our studentenverhuis Antwerpen page.

Moving in Antwerp: three things expats often miss

  1. Parking ban. In the city centre and in dense districts such as Borgerhout and Berchem, a moving van needs a reserved stretch of kerb. You apply online at parkeerverbod.antwerpen.be at least 5 working days ahead; the fee starts at 65 euro and the city places the signs two days before your move.
  2. Low-emission zone. The whole city inside the Ring road, plus Linkeroever, is a low-emission zone (LEZ). Foreign number plates must be registered in advance at lez.antwerpen.be, even for a compliant car, and non-compliant vehicles face fines of 150 to 350 euro. Our vans drive into the zone every day.
  3. Address registration. Within 8 working days of moving you register your new address with the city (online); a neighbourhood police officer then visits to confirm you live there, after which your residence card is updated.

How a move with us works

  1. Send us your addresses, floors, the rough volume and your preferred date, by phone, WhatsApp or the quote form. You receive a clear quote within 24 hours.
  2. Confirm the date and time slot. If you live in an apartment building, reserve the lift with the building manager (syndicus) and tell us the time window.
  3. On moving day the team arrives on time, protects floors and door frames, loads room by room, and unloads everything where you want it in the new home.
