Which moves do we handle in and around Antwerp?

We move households and offices in the city of Antwerp and the surrounding municipalities. That covers a studio or a family house, a few pieces of furniture, a student room and an office that has to keep working.

We also do urgent moves within 24 to 48 hours, and calm moves for seniors going to assisted living. Moves to and from other countries get their own quote. On request we pack, store furniture between two homes and clear out the old home. Two things we do not do: take furniture apart or put it back together, and apply for the parking ban for you.

International and Erasmus students

Student moves in Antwerp start from €300 incl. VAT. We move room to room within the city, store your things over the summer between two contracts, and can put the quote and invoice in a parent's name.

Families moving house

We move a full household from an apartment or a terraced house, with a 24 m³ van or a 45 m³ truck for larger homes. For a large move we come to look on site first, so the price is based on what is really there.

Offices and businesses

We move offices, practices and shops with as little downtime as possible, on a Saturday or Sunday if your team needs to work on Monday. Office moves are priced on request, usually after a visit to the building.

How much does a moving company in Antwerp cost?

Each package covers the moving van, two movers and the furniture lift. It costs €400 for 2 hours or €470 for 3 hours, VAT included. A larger move gets a custom price. The 3-hour package is the one most people choose.

The hour starts when we arrive at your address, and every extra half hour costs €70. Sunday moves cost 20% more. The packages apply within 15 km of Antwerp. For longer distances, moves abroad and office moves, the price is on request and you receive it within 24 hours.

How does a move with Antwerpen Verhuizen work?

A move with us takes 4 steps: send your details, confirm and reserve the street, prepare the home and moving day. Below you read, step by step, what you do and what our two movers do on the day.

Send your details
Send both addresses, the floor of each home and whether there is a lift, a rough list of furniture and your preferred date. Use the phone, WhatsApp or the quote form. Photos of the largest pieces help. You receive a clear quote within 24 hours.
Confirm and reserve the street
Confirm the date and time slot. We tell you how many metres of street to reserve for the van, and you apply for the parking ban yourself. In an apartment building, book the lift with the building manager (syndicus) and pass on the time window.
Prepare the home
Take beds, wardrobes and large tables apart before we arrive, because we do not do that. Close and label the boxes and put them near the door or the window. The more is ready, the shorter your move.
Moving day
The team arrives on time, protects floors and door frames and loads room by room. Large pieces go out through the window on the furniture lift. At the new home we put everything in the rooms you point out.

What should you know before your move in Antwerp?

Before your move in Antwerp, plan for the parking ban, the LEZ and address registration. You apply for the parking ban at least 5 working days ahead, and register your address within 8 working days. Student moves start from €300, and moves within the EU need no customs formalities.

How much does a student move in Antwerp cost?

A student move in Antwerp starts from €300 incl. VAT. Most student rooms (a kot in Flemish) come furnished, so you move boxes, clothes, a bike and perhaps a desk chair or small fridge. Many rooms sit high up in an old townhouse with a narrow staircase, so the mattress goes out through the window.

If your contract ends on 30 June and the new room is free on 1 September, we store your things insured in between. Moves to Ghent, Leuven, Brussels or the Netherlands get a price on request. Book two to three weeks ahead for mid-September or late June. More on our student moves page (in Dutch).

What do expats need to know about the parking ban, LEZ and address registration?

The three rules expats most often miss when moving in Antwerp are the parking ban, the low-emission zone (LEZ) and address registration. Each has a deadline: 5 working days for the parking ban, the day after entry for a foreign car, and 8 working days for your address.

Parking ban: in the centre and dense districts the van needs a reserved stretch of street. You apply online at parkeerverbod.antwerpen.be at least 5 working days ahead, from €65, and the city places the signs 2 days before.

Low-emission zone: the centre between the Singel and the Scheldt, plus Linkeroever, is a LEZ. A car with a foreign number plate must be registered once, free of charge, by the day after it enters. Dutch plates are exempt.

Address registration: report your new address online within 8 working days. A neighbourhood police officer then checks that you live there.

How does a move to or from Antwerp from abroad work?

A move between Antwerp and another country is quoted individually, based on the destination, the volume and the services you need. Within the EU there are no customs formalities: we load in one day and unload at the new address, often the same day or the next. Book two to four weeks ahead.

The Netherlands, Germany, France and Luxembourg are the most requested destinations, and we go further too, to Spain for example. If you are coming to Antwerp, we arrange the collection in your home country through our European transport partners. Is the furniture lift included?

Yes, in every package, including the 2-hour package. The lift reaches up to the eighth floor and takes sofas, wardrobes, mattresses and boxes out through the window or balcony. That saves time and protects the staircase. Tell us on which side of the building the window is and whether trees or a front garden stand in front of it.

Do you move to the Netherlands or other countries?

Yes. Moves to and from the Netherlands, France, Germany, Luxembourg and further afield are quoted individually, with the price and the date agreed before we leave. The price depends on the destination, the volume and services such as packing or storage. Book two to four weeks ahead, so there is time for the quote and any documents.

Do I need a parking permit for the moving van?

In the city centre and the dense districts, usually yes. You apply for a temporary parking ban yourself at parkeerverbod.antwerpen.be, at least 5 working days ahead, from €65. An urgent procedure costs more and must be requested 2 working days ahead, before 9 am. We tell you how many metres to reserve. Our parking ban guide (in Dutch) explains the steps.

Do you disassemble furniture?

No. Please take beds, wardrobes and large tables apart before we arrive, and put them back together yourself in the new home. This keeps your move inside the package you booked. If a piece cannot be taken apart, send us its size in advance and we check whether it fits through the staircase or needs the furniture lift.

Do you do student moves?

Yes. Student moves in Antwerp start from €300 incl. VAT. We also store belongings over the summer between two rental contracts, and the quote and invoice can be in a parent's name. Book two to three weeks ahead for mid-September and late June.
